What is DOD / Large Character Marking?

Large Character / Drop-on-Demand (DOD) inkjet systems use solenoid valve-jets to fire larger ink droplets, forming bold dot-matrix characters that are easily visible from a distance.

This makes DOD ideal for shipping marks on cases, sacks (cement, chemicals), and building materials like plywood and pipes — situations where legibility from a distance matters more than fine detail or barcode density.
